Build a custom framework

Step-by-step

1. 1 In the left sidebar, open 'Governance' and click 'Custom' to open Frameworks (/frameworks).
2. 2 Click 'Create Framework'. In the 'Custom Quickstart' drawer, choose 'Wizard' to build from scratch, 'Template' to clone a library framework, 'Self Provision' to import an Excel template, 'Generate via AI' to draft with assistance, or 'Learn' to watch a tutorial.
3. 3 Framework step: enter a 'Title' (must be unique, at least four words) and a 'Description'. Click 'Change Icon' to set an icon. Click 'Next'.
4. 4 Type step: pick the 'Framework type' (Standard, Third Party, or Internal Control) and the 'Framework period' (Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Bi-annually, or Annually). Click 'Next'.
5. 5 Options step: review the response options table (Response, Description, Score, Indicator). The defaults are No (0), Yes (100), Partially (50), and Not Applicable (100). Click 'Add' to add a custom response, then click 'Next'.
6. 6 Artefacts step: add the documentation items respondents must provide. For each row set the artefact 'Title' and 'Type', and click 'Upload' to attach a template. Use the settings icon to add 'Guidelines'. Click 'Next'.
7. 7 Categories step: add categories with a 'Title' and 'Description' to segment the framework, then click 'Next'.
8. 8 Controls step: click 'Add Objective' to create objectives, add sub-objectives, and add controls under each. Open a control's settings icon to set its assessment, guidance, risk, and recommendations. Click 'Next'. See 'Configure objectives and controls' for the full detail.
9. 9 Monitors step: read the consent note, then click a monitor type to select it for continuous scanning.
10. 10 Click 'Submit' to save the framework.
