Overview

Raise and sustain data security posture across inventory, classification, retention, issues, and privacy.

Step-by-step

  1. 1 In the sidebar, open 'Posture Management' then 'Data Security' (/dspm) and baseline on the 'Overview': 'Overall Posture', 'Overall Resources Status', 'Resources Policy Violations', 'Data Resources by Classification', 'Overall Shadow Data', 'Resources Requiring Disposal', 'Avg. Remediation Time', and 'Issues by Incident Types'.
  2. 2 Open 'Data Inventory' to confirm discovered data: review 'Data by File Types', 'Data by Access Operations', and the inventory table, and check that sensitive and shadow data are accounted for.
  3. 3 Open 'Data Retention' and act on 'Resources by Disposal Action' and the 'Resources Requiring Disposal' table (Archive, Delete, Retain) to clear overdue data.
  4. 4 Open 'Issues' and triage the 'Severity Distribution', starting with Critical and High, and use 'Issues by Assets' on the overview to see where issues concentrate.
  5. 5 Remediate by running a monitor under 'Governance' then 'Monitor' against the affected assets, assigning owners and a schedule, then confirm the fixes in the monitor's 'Findings'.
  6. 6 Convert exposure into governed risk: on the monitor's 'Alarms', click 'Assess Risk' to link an alarm to your risk program, and assess any issue you cannot fix immediately so the accepted risk is governed.
  7. 7 For high-risk processing, run a Data Privacy Impact Assessment so privacy risk is assessed alongside your data posture.
  8. 8 Connect your tools under 'Account' then 'Integrations' so their security and compliance checks run automatically and feed posture without manual effort.
  9. 9 Re-check the overview over successive reviews and track 'Overall Posture', the 'Resources Policy Violations' trend, and 'Avg. Remediation Time' improving over time.
